Telephone
Fictional pop group featured in the Longmans Audio Visual French books.
Jean-Paul et Claudette would purchase "le dernier disque de Telephone" every fricking Saturday, without fail. If they really wanted to live life on the edge, they went swimming afterwards.

I used to think that as well, but Telephone are in fact not even slightly fictional.
I know this because when some friends of mine went on a French exchange trip, two of the first questions they got asked by the French kids were "ecoutez-vous le musique 'Hard Rock'?" and then "ecoutez-vous la groupe 'Telephone'?".
See them on Amazon here
Apparently Telephone are pretty crap, which is surprising, considering they're a hard rock band called Telephone.

do we need to provide a PSA pointing out that Telephone are a real band? if so, this is not that PSA.
The band "Telephone" did indeed exist. Which came first, I don't know: I have a suspicion it was probably the Tricolore books, with the band being a cheap attempt to cash in on some free publicity and fleece unsuspecting exchange students. They released a couple of albums, some of which you can still get on Amazon. I checked this out (for purely scientific reasons, understand) - how sad does this make me?

You're going to have to give us more proof than that. That just links through to an error page, and I quote: Attention : le navigateur que vous utilisez contient un bug.

You know perfectly well that Jean Paul et Caudette actually used to buy "le dernier disque des Papillons". Unless of course they chose to spend their money on the single other available commodity in La Rochelle Town Centre, "un t-shirt".
It was never specified whether French children received all their other clothing free from the government, or whether they all just ran around trouserless. You never can tell with these overseas barbarians, but it was good of the people behind Tricolore to mentally prepare us for the worst, should we choose in adult life to step beyond our own civilised shores.

Oh god - does that mean I've been living under a misapprehension all these years in assuming Evi Bamm ('Telephone' equivalent featured heavily in the ZickZack textbooks) were fictional?
